Saafan is the director of development and information security at zlabs. He is specialized in software development lifecycle security, rugged devops, advanced penetration testing and data protection. With a diverse security, programming and infrastructure background, and experience from consulting, banking and startup sectors, he has led numerous projects across the full spectrum of information security. As part of his contribution to the security community, he is an active speaker in conferences and developer of open source projects such as CSurfer Burp Suite extension for bypassing CSRF protections, Facebook Pwn (FBPwn) research project focused on exposing social networks' insecurities, and the browser exploitation framework (BeEF) aimed at exposing modern browsers' threats with many published articles and presentations. Saafan holds multiple cybersecurity certifications in the fields of secure software development, web application security, mobile device security, penetration testing, exploit writing, reverse engineering and malware analysis.

Have been working in a middle management position for over 10 years developing and implementing the corporate information Technology policies and processes. Have experience in achieving ISO Certifications (ISO 27001, ISO 20000, ISO 9001, ISO 22301) planning, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and continual improvement.

Sherif El-Kassas is currently a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The American University in Cairo.
His research interests are focused on security management, the application of formal methods in software engineering and computer security, and open source technologies. He also works in the interdisciplinary area concerned with intellectual property and open source development and innovation.
Professor El-Kassas held a joint appointment with University Academic Computing Technologies at AUC in which he was acting director until 2008.
El-Kassas is also a consultant for various organizations, a member of the board of trustees of the Information Technology Institute, a member of the board of the Egyptian Open Source Business Consortium NGO and a member of various professional computing societies.
El-Kassas received his PhD from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands.
